 Founded in 1882, MECA has a long and proud history of educating artists and designers to be innovators and creative thinkers. Throughout its history, the College has benefitted from the generosity of a broad range of supporters, including alumni, parents, trustees, faculty and staff, businesses, foundations, and other friends. Together, these generous supporters have helped make it possible for the College to remain a nationally recognized leader in visual arts education.

Opportunities for Giving
NEW TAX BENEFITS FOR IRA GIFTS
The Pension Protection Act of 2006 allows people ages 70 1/2 or older to
make donations of up to $100,000 per year from their IRA, for a total of
$200,000 between now and December 31, 2007.
The legislation included in the Pension Protection Act of 2006 provides
for "qualified charitable distributions” or “QCD’s” of up to $100,000 per
year from IRA’s during 2006 and 2007 by taxpayers who are at least 70 ½
years of age at the time of the QCD, which by definition, is to charity. A
married couple with ages 70 ½ or over can make a gift together of $200,000
in a given year from their respective IRA’s. These gifts can be counted
toward your required minimum IRA distributions. Transfers to donor advised
funds, support organizations, and charitable gift annuities do not qualify.
