Christopher Strickland, Adjunct Instructor
Christopher M. Strickland is an Artist-Educator who works in a variety of media, but primarily focuses on watercolor painting. By taking daily life experiences as subject matter while commenting on the spectrum of human emotions, Strickland creates intense personal moments, acts of meditation and abstract expressions. His works demonstrate how life extends beyond its own subjective limits, undergoing transubstantiation and often telling a story about the effects of a spiritual awakening and transformation. Strickland exhibits his work in different venues throughout New England, especially at the Kittery Art Association Gallery as a member of KAA’s ‘Moderns’ group.
Strickland has taught a variety of grade levels in the last twelve years for the SAU#11 Dover School District in Dover, NH. Currently, he teaches visual arts at Dover High School and serves as the Fine Arts Curriculum Coordinator for the Dover School District’s K-12 Fine Arts program. Strickland studied Creativity and Arts Integration at Lesley University and earned a M. Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction: Integrated Teaching Through the Arts. In addition to his curriculum work with Dover, Strickland has published articles on Art Education and LGBT issues through the NAEA and is a contributing author of the book, "From Our Voices: Art Educators and Artists Speak Out About Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Issues".
