Lisa Giles, Adjunct Assistant Professor
Lisa Giles holds an MFA in poetry from Arizona State University and a PhD in American Literature from Brandeis University. Her dissertation research focused on the poetics of the garden in American poetry—as a sustaining theme, an aesthetic site encouraging stylistic experimentation, and as a locus of an ethical relationship between humans and the non-human world. In her poems, she explores metaphors of geography and communication. She teaches classes in first-year composition, creative writing, world poetry, and literature and environment. Her field research includes the restoration of the perennial garden at her 1830 home in Freeport.
