Loquat, a fashion brand operated by Madison Poitrast-Upton ’20 and MECA&D Trustee Jordan Carey ’19, will officially open its new retail location in the ground floor storefront of the Mechanics' Hall building — located across the street from Maine College of Art & Design.
Loquat is known for its slow-fashion, artist-led approach that emphasizes quality clothing, bags, and home goods made with a mission to elevate marginalized voices. The brand has previously collaborated with Mechanics' Hall, serving as the costume designer for last summer's production of CarmXn by Hogfish as well as the 2022 little house dance production Hour Wolf.
