Position Overview
The Assistant Director of Continuing & Professional Studies plays a key role in
supporting the development, coordination, and delivery of the College’s non-degree programs, including adult and youth education, Pre-College, and registration. Reporting to the Director of Continuing & Professional Studies, the Assistant Director ensures high-quality experiences for faculty and students, maintains efficient program operations, and contributes to the department’s strategic growth.
This is a full-time, 12-month position for a highly organized, collaborative
professional who thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment and is passionate about accessible, community-centered education.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee Continuing Studies and Pre-College program logistics, including
registration, classroom readiness, supplies, keys, and faculty support. - Serve as a primary point of contact for faculty, students, and families,
offering guidance on program policies and procedures. - Lead administrative functions of the Pre-College program, including
communications, policy development, and coordination with campus
partners. - Collaborate with the Director to develop new course offerings that reflect
institutional values and community needs. - Coordinate targeted marketing efforts and contribute to promotional
content, including editing materials and supporting social media. - Maintain accurate program records and manage student database systems,
waitlists, and reporting. - Visit studios to document student work, support instructors, and foster a
vibrant program culture. - Liaise with Student Life, Admissions, Residential Education, and other
departments to ensure program integration and alignment with MECA&D’s
mission. - Supervise day-to-day departmental operations and assist in strategic
planning initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, arts administration, business, or a related
field—or equivalent professional experience.
Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience in program management, continuing education, or a similar field, preferably in higher education or the arts.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including youth, adults, and
community-based learners. - Strong track record in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational
programs. - Experience using databases and tools like Microsoft Office, Google
Workspace, and CRM systems. - Demonstrated success in supporting marketing and outreach efforts.
Skills & Attributes:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Collaborative and adaptable mindset with a focus on creative
problem-solving. - Ability to work across departments and engage external stakeholders.
- Comfortable presenting at events and representing the College publicly.

What We Offer
Join a creative and mission-driven team at one of New England’s leading art and design colleges. This full-time, exempt position offers a starting salary of $48,000 annually, along with a benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability coverage, a 403(b) retirement plan with a 5% match, and generous paid time off—including vacation, personal, sick days, and holidays.
