Strategic Goal 3: Broaden Our Reach: Online Learning and New Programs
Charge
Maine College of Art & Design will develop new programming via online learning, hybrid, and in-person modalities to further our mission of educating students and designers for life; expand our audience and community; generate additional revenue streams; and provide for the future adaptability of the College. The College will approach this endeavor within a comprehensive planning time frame.
Establish Success Measures in Online Learning and New Programs
New programs developed at Maine College of Art & Design will be aligned with our mission to educate artists and designers for life and be informed by evolving art and design workforce needs. New programs will build upon and leverage the College's unique strengths and characteristics in order to carve out a spot in the educational marketplace and provide for future adaptability of the College.
Success will mean extending our reach in a multitude of ways, increasing profitability while adding academic value, and ensuring a standard of excellence as it pertains to postsecondary art education. Specific success measures will be established for all new programs. Success will also be measured by Maine College of Art & Design’s ability to provide opportunities to improve learning, engage students of different needs, enhance research and instructional strategies for faculty, and support retention.
Plan for Timeline and Resources Needed to Proceed With Online Learning and New Programs
Maine College of Art & Design will create a timeline that includes the steps needed for research, development, implementation, and maintenance while also defining capital and other resources needed to proceed. As part of this work, we will also investigate pathways to establish and achieve revenue targets through programming methodology, including stacked credentials, graduate programs, and non-credit-bearing models.
