We seek a compassionate and experienced part-time Clinical Counselor to provide individual and group counseling services, crisis intervention, and referrals for our student body. This is an excellent opportunity for a mental health professional passionate about supporting students' emotional well-being in a creative environment.

Position Overview

The Clinical Counselor is essential in supporting student mental health at MECA&D. You will work closely with students to provide individual and group counseling services, respond to crises, and collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure a holistic approach to student well-being. This part-time role offers 20 hours per week during the academic year (mid-August to mid-May).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide confidential counseling services to students, both individually and in groups.
  • Collaborate with the Mental Health Counselor to support students experiencing emotional crises and refer to external mental health providers when necessary.
  • Develop and implement personalized counseling plans for individual students.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation of counseling sessions in accordance with ethical and legal standards.
  • Attend supervision and team meetings, training, and development opportunities related to counseling and student mental health.
  • Track and report data on student engagement and mental health trends to help improve services.

What We’re Looking For

  • Master’s degree in mental health counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Active licensure as a mental health professional in Maine, in good standing.
  • At least one year of relevant experience in counseling or mental health support (preferred).
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including students from varied cultural, economic, and social backgrounds.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • A commitment to fostering a respectful and inclusive environment for all students.

Rate: $30.00 per hour
