Pride Month Windows

Last summer, Maine College of Art & Design celebrated Pride Month at the Joanne Waxman Library with window designs by Printmaking major Milo McNeel '25, Sculpture major McKenna Bommarito '25, and Animation & Game Art major Jakob Flores Figueroa '26. This year, we want to expand our call for submissions and give students more time to work on their entries.

Submit Your Designs

Showcase Your Voice! Your design should be related to queer identity, queer history, or queer symbology. Designs can be image-based, text-based, or a combination of both. While your design does not have to be overtly Pride-themed, your design description should clearly explain the connection to Pride.

The submission process will involve two rounds of jurying. Four finalists will be selected for the final round, where the wider student body will choose the two winning designs. We will announce the selected designs in April. Submissions are due by Friday, November 22nd.

Submission Guidelines
  • Your submitted work must be original.
  • Each artist can submit only one design.
  • You need to upload one design and, if necessary, one detail shot of the design via the submission form.
  • The murals will be scaled to approximately 6.5 feet wide by 6.0 feet high.
  • You must be able to execute your design with paint markers.*
  • Winning designs will be displayed starting June 1st, 2025, on four windows inside the Joanne Waxman Library.**

*MECA&D will cover the cost of all materials related to installing the mural.
**Artists who will not be available to install the design in late May 2025 should prioritize design and color simplicity and be prepared to develop easy-to-follow instructions.

Prizes and Recognition

The four selected artists will each receive $100 for their designs and gain recognition, approval, and pride for contributing to MECA&D’s Pride Month celebration.
