Photography: The Paper Portrait
with Justin Kirchoff
In this workshop students will photograph themselves in the studio with a large format camera using direct positive paper and process it in the darkroom.
DIY Handbound Sketchbook
with Evelyn Wong
This workshop is an introduction to basic bookbinding by hand. Learn how to make your own sketchbook and ways you can use book arts for printmaking, papermaking, illustration, and many other media. Everyone leaves with a handbound sketchbook!
EMBOSSED: Patterned Necklace
with Kyle Patnaude
Students will learn simple wire working and hydraulic embossing to create a custom patterned necklace. Participants will be able to walk away with wearable jewelry!
Weaving Together
with Elana Adler
This workshop will introduce you to the concept of weaving. There will be 3 large-scale ‘potholder’ looms, and together, as small groups, we will make giant potholders aka seat cushions. You will be shown the looms and some frame looms and some examples of simple and complicated woven fabrics.
Ink Monster
with Michael Connor
Material choice can guide the idea of an illustration. In this workshop, you'll play with quality materials, a big photocopier, and a zany prompt to create a MONSTER! We'll frankestein collage materials as a base and use traditional dip pen & ink to craft connective tissue and make it come ALIVE!
