Visiting Artist Anna Zhang

Anna Zhang is an artist and creative technologist whose work explores how we relate to, and can reimagine, technology. Her practice explores technology’s “negative space”: the overlooked histories and conditions that shape how we see and interact with the world. She builds creative tools, web experiences, and installations that bring these layers into view, examining the values our technologies embed and the assumptions they make, and rethinking what it might look like to build our systems around creativity, community, and care.

Her work has been exhibited at the National Museum of American History and Gray Area, published in Real Life, the Royal Photographic Society Journal, and New Media Caucus, and recognized with the Judson-Morrissey Excellence in New Media Award and Forbes 30 Under 30. She is a member of NEW INC, the New Museum's incubator for art, design, and technology.

Anna Zhang is currently showing in Dear Data, an exhibition about the complicated relationships between humans and technology, on view in the ICA at MECA&D from October 2 through December 13, 2026.
