Portland Press Herald Highlights MECA&D Holiday Markets

"At Maine College of Art & Design, students learn the art of selling," declares the Portland Press Herald article published this weekend.

The article focuses on two ways that MECA&D students will sell their work this weekend: the annual Holiday Sale and Merry Magical Market, a pop-up at 49 Oak.

The article highlights Evelyn Wong's class, called "Art of Selling Out," which focuses on the business of selling art. "Wong taught the students how to make items that might sell well at markets — handmade notebooks with different binding techniques, personalized zines, letterpress prints. They also talked about different approaches to pricing those creations," writes Megan Gray, staff writer at the Portland Press Herald.

Down the street at the Porteous Building, MECA&D is preparing for its Holiday Sale, which expects to see up to 4,000 visitors this weekend. About 75% of vendors are alumni, and students across disciplines will participate as sellers, volunteers, and shoppers.

Plan your visit this weekend to the Merry Magical Market and Holiday Sale!
