Ceramics alum Dominique Ostuni’s ’17 solo exhibition opened this month at Dowling Walsh Gallery in Rockland, Maine. Would an Angel Apologize for Spilling Champagne? is an immersive exhibit that fills the gallery’s first floor, with drawings directly on the walls alongside Ostuni’s ornate and romantic vessels on pedestals.

Ostuni says she’s interested in “the moment when the object starts to misbehave,” which leaves behind pure utility to create objects that ask to be contemplated and valued for beauty beyond practicality.
