2024 Jenny Family Residents Announced

Maine College of Art & Design and Artists at Work are pleased to announce the 2024 Jenny Family Residents.

Established in 2008 by the family of Barbara Rita Jenny (MFA '02), the MECA&D Jenny Family Residency is open to Maine College of Art & Design degree-holding alumni, current faculty, and staff in New Edinburgh, Nova Scotia. This family-friendly residency is distinguished by its incomparable location on the rugged Atlantic Coast of Canada and by the fact that residents may bring their families to stay in the large house on-site.

The 2024 Jenny Family Residents are:

Kristina Buckley '15

Kristina is a Portland, Maine-based illustrator and printmaker who specializes in risograph printing. She received her BFA in printmaking from Maine College of Art & Design in 2015 and subsequently joined Pickwick Independent Press printshop as an engaged member. Kristina uses drawings, risograph prints, and mail art (often in the form of newsletters or her postcard subscription club) to draw connections between self, community, place, and social justice movements.

Montana Dorte van Duijn '23

Montana is a recent MECA&D graduate based in Portland, Maine. Her sculpture and video work incorporates the natural world and materials such as wax, wood, fire, and stones to bring non-denominational spirit and shadow work into the physical realm.

Nick Vyssotsky MFA '21

Nick received his BFA in 2012 from Maryland Institute College of Art and his MFA in 2021 from Maine College of Art & Design. As an artist who uses installation, video, coding, and drawing, he has shown nationally and internationally. The primary focus of Vyssotsky's work is society's relationship with technology and the physiological effects of this relationship on the human psyche.

Justine Lasdin MAT '19, Liz Hoag, and Tamara Jones

As a team, this group of artists works in various media, including painting, photography, sewing, collage, and sculpture. They will use their time at the Jenny Family Residency in New Edinburgh to explore the local surroundings and create work both independently and collaboratively.
