Curator Michaela Flint is a Brazilian American artist and illustrator whose family faced separation due to visa issues. Flint’s diverse cultural background has greatly influenced her illustration work. Growing up with the experience of her father’s deportation to Brazil, she has been inspired by the themes of home and belonging since childhood. Her illustrations reflect her mixed culture, advocacy, and love for Portland, Maine, where she resides.
