Betsy Scheintaub

Betsy Scheintaub is an educator, garment designer, fiber artist, and business owner. She has a BFA in Fiber Arts from the University of Oregon and ten years experience working in costumes for opera, ballet, and theater. As an independent designer, she has designed garments for production as well as a line of handbags and accessories under the label Bobbin.

Betsy has been an adjunct professor in the Textile and Fashion Design department since 2014. Through classes in 3D materiality, weaving, and garment design, she teaches appreciation of materials, fine craftsmanship, and an exploration of textile techniques.

As a member of the board of the Maine Crafts Association, Betsy has focused on highlighting the work of Maine-based fashion and fiber artists in local fashion shows and exhibitions. A true believer in the value of handwork, Betsy is dedicated to teaching and promoting craft as an essential part of our culture.
