James LaPlante holds a BS in Broadcast Production from the University of Maine. He is the Founder of Sputnik Animation, an Emmy award-winning studio in South Portland, Maine. He has 30+ years of experience as an animator, producer, and creative director. James has produced animation for television documentaries and educational institutions including PBS, NOVA, National Geographic, Discovery Networks, Harvard and MIT. He has also produced interactive content for museum exhibits that have appeared at the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum, The Children’s Museum of Maine, The Boston Science Museum, and the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.
LaPlante’s recent endeavors include founding Chroma2four, an immersive experience production company where he works to create interactive immersive art experiences by partnering with local artists. With the goal of creating a sustainable immersive art venue in the Portland, Maine area.
