Sarah Shaw

Sarah Shaw is a visual storyteller, illustrator, and professor. At the beginning of her career, she spent ten years working abroad in Korea, Colombia, and Nepal, which greatly influenced her narrative work and visual style. She makes autobiographical, socio-political, and historical comics with a handmade, decorative flair, and she also crafts visual essays, zines, and comics poems that capture the everyday. Her visual narratives have been published in The Boston Globe, The Boston Art Review, Rustica Journal, Pencil Magazine, Shenandoah, and more. She has illustrated for several companies, schools, and organizations, including images for The White House’s “Build Back Better” initiative.
