opens solo show "Turf Paradise" in New York City

Painting alum Nicholas Norris ’14 opened his first solo exhibition Friday, February 24, 2023 at New York’s Thierry Goldberg Gallery. The exhibition, Turf Paradise, showcases Norris’ striking visual style, making use of saturated colors, glyphic patterns, and staggering depth of field.

“Norris' paintings create new spaces of connection and joy,” expressed fellow artist David Whelan. “We often imagine things coming together when they are in agreement, creating a congruent whole. But Norris envisions a communion where the liveliness of parts remains at play, where things coalesce not because they've been tamed or integrated, but precisely because they are imperfect and incomplete."

Norris has participated in group exhibitions at EKELY, and Kunsthal Charlottenborg, both in Copenhagen, Denmark; Haus am Haus am Lützowplatz, and Hasenheide 9, both in Berlin, Germany; and Maine College of Art & Design’s own Edward M. and Carole J. Friedman Gallery, amongst others.
