Steve Drown

Steve Drown is the Coordinator of the Bob Crewe Program in Art and Music at Maine College of Art & Design, and has been involved with the program since its inception in 2014. In addition to being an educator, he’s spent the past 35 years as a working music and audio professional. After graduating from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in their Music Production and Engineering program, he pursued a career as a recording engineer and producer. Steve has recorded and produced hundreds of albums by a wide variety of artists, including six Grammy-nominated albums. Multimedia projects include mixing and sound design for Bose Corporation, and documentaries for National Geographic Explorer, History Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery Channel and PBS.

As an educator, Steve started at the Northeast Broadcasting School in Boston as an instructor and the first Chair of their Recording Arts Program. He continued teaching seminars in professional recording studios, in addition to courses and workshops at the University of Maine in Augusta, prior to arriving at MECA&D.
